Garry Hughes – Triathlete
I’ve been in and out of triathlon now for about 13 years. I began running when I was 11 after watching my parents take part in local races. I manged to get into the Great Britain junior team for a few years for duathlon between 2004-2006. Being on the same team as Alistair Brownlee was pretty cool considering how far he has come since.
I guess for me others things have taken priority with work and family.
I would say running is my strongest discipline, then swimming, with biking being my weakest.
I have running pbs of 15.03 5km/ 31.40 10km/ 1 10 half marathon. Currently I have 7 British triathlon medals and hold five out of the ten fastest records for the Cotswold Way.
After taking the last few years a bit easier, this year I’ve got a few longer and harder challenges to aim for.
