5 Valleys Yoga teachers and Birthlight membership
Becoming a mother can be the most beautiful experience. It can also be stressful. We aim to help with the well-being of both mother and child through a variety of services including Yoga. Membership of Birthlight ensures our Yoga teachers have the greatest understanding of this fantastic time.
Who is Birthlight?
Birthlight is the first training provider to have been recognised by the British Council of Yoga Therapy (BCYT) and the Federation of Antenatal Teachers (FEDANT).
The Birthlight Trust is a non-profit organisation dedicated to enhance the health and well-being of women. It includes their families and concerns the period from conception through to the third year.
They use simple body-based practices inspired from yoga and traditional modes of parenting. Some of their practices are land-based and others are in water. Their aim is to enhance the well-being of women and their partners.
They journey with them through pregnancy and birth. They help parents and infants relax in shared enjoyment of their new life together.
What is Birthlight
The name refers to both ‘birthing lightly’ without undue strain. It also encompasses the spiritual dimension of birth that is often forgotten. Its practices are science-based but taught from the heart to nurture the whole person.
It is dedicated to promoting a sensitive approach to pregnancy and birth through innovative applications of yoga. Internationally acclaimed, Birthlight continually strives to use the latest research findings in the development of simple but effective movements. Movements are underpinned by evidence-based medical and scientific advances in pre and neonatal neuroscience. Continuing Professional Development is a prerequisite of continuing membership.
