What is Pilates?
Pilates consists of a series of exercises which is performed incorporating 6 key fundamental principles:
- Flow and Coordination
- Centre/core stablity
It is recommended by osteopaths, physiotherapists, chiropractors and doctors as it is one of the safest forms of exercise.
We offer pilates classes or one on one sessions in our excellent and fully furnished studio
Types of Pilates
Taught by Gemma Singleton, one of our physiotherapists, Modified Pilates is tailored to training core stability as well as increasing flexibility, endurance, strength and promoting postural and body awareness. It is proven to help alleviate chronic back pain and neck pain and is also a good stress reliever.
Each of the traditional exercises are broken down into levels to allow a steady and gradual progression towards correct movement patterns and encourage carry over into the normal activities of daily living.
Body Control Pilates
Taught by Gundi Nye, these gentle safe exercises are especially designed to work with the deep core muscles supporting the structure as well as the more superficial muscles throughout the body. It brings tone and vitality back through freeing tight areas, increasing flexibility and restoring muscle tone where it was lost.
Which type to choose?
Both approaches are amongst the most effective in treating back and neck pain, sports injuries as well as as degenerative problems. By having both under one roof we can cross-refer where needed to achieve a collaborative approach to your well-being and recovery.
A one to one assessment is always recommended to help identify which type suits you best. Our teachers are fully qualified to help you work at a pace you feel comfortable with.
Pilates classes and 1-2-1 sessions
We offer both classes and 1-2-1 sessions based on your personal situation and preference.
A 1-2-1 first assessment is always recommended. We provide you with the basic steps and exercise that are crucial to master, as well as explaining how and why Pilates is so successful in transforming your body. After completion of this session and with your aims and goals outlined we can then decide which class would suit you best.
Try it now and experience the great results for yourself. You wont look back!
