Gwen reigned in Spain
Gwen Kinsey reigned in Spain at the European Duathlon Championships.
The Stroud Athletics Club athlete, who is also the world champion, bagged gold in the 40-44 age group in sunny Soria.
Renowned for her speed in the 5k run, Gwen certainly put her marker down and rounded-off a fantastic weekend. She finished second overall across all age groups.
Gwen said: “I went off fast at the start to try and build as big a gap as possible. Normally I am overtaken by several athletes on the bike, but this course suited me. It was hilly and windy so using a road bike and training on the Cotswold hills was to my advantage. I built on my lead and extended it on the final run, winning by 90 seconds.
Gwen is now targeting the European Triathlon Champs in Dusseldorf at the end of June.
